1944 VAP engine – Number 1925 A1
See Page 109 for a restored and running VAP4 on a 1948 Sunbeam
Production of the first VAP engine started in 1942. It was 50cc. Not many were made and, these days, they are extremely rare.
The magneto is a Wageor et L. Couffinhal AA1.

Here, you can compare it with the next model, the VAP2, which was introduced after the war, and was reduced to 48cc in line with the new government exemptions regarding vehicles that could be driven without registration or driving license (still in force today in France). The early VAP is on top in the pictures.
The position of the magneto and the different carbs are the most obvious difference between the two.

VAP2 or VAP3 engine – Number 11140
I’m not sure if this is a VAP2 or a VAP3. According to records (which may or may not be correct), the engine number makes it a VAP3, but the badge is different to the VAP3’s I’ve come across.

VEHICLE CONDITION: Vintage vehicles are wonderful beasts – but each has an individual personality and they sometimes have bad days just like you and me.
You will need basic mechanical skills (or a local mechanic) to use one on a regular basis.
2-Stroke engines – and cyclemotors in particular – are notoriously unreliable. Basic servicing is generally required if unused for even a few weeks.
These are rare vehicles whose values are not necessarily based on running order.
Unless an auction description specifically states that the vehicle is running, THE VEHICLE IS SOLD FOR RESTORATION.
IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THE ABOVE, PLEASE DO NOT BID.
