These dodgy-looking characters attempting nonchalance around a Quick 50 seem to have been inspired by sixties album covers. There’s definitely something reminiscent there of Eric Burden and the Animals.

Goodness me. Some more groovy folks below, standing to attention behind a Quick 50. Apparently much cheaper to get four fellows from the German equivalent of Central Casting to hold up pictures of (what I assume to be) celebrities than to pay the actual celebrities themselves. Someone obviously got a bonus at NSU’s advertising agency for that masterstroke.

The Quick 50 is one of the rarest NSU’s. Mine needs some parts …but rare bikes are allowed some leeway 🙂

Parts that are missing are the carb, engine covers, chainguard, rear lamp, headlamp nacelle with correct headlamp rim, lens and speedo.

This is an interesting restoration project. I was going to do it. But once a year I prune my vehicle collection and sell the ones that haven’t moved forward in the restoration queue. Unfortunately, the Quick 50 is one of those.

It has a V5C, and is registered BFX 71A.

The engine turns over with compression.

Very few Quick Fifties were made. A kick-start meant that it din’t enjoy the advantages that pedal-start mopeds were afforded at the time. It was not made for long. Today it’s just about the rarest NSU.
