1946 Rensch (Paris Cycles) SWB Tandem

Rensch/ Paris Cycles was a short-lived venture but, with the British racing champion Harry Rensch’s excellent reputation, their frames had a first class reputation. The SWB (Short Wheelbase) tandem – its overall length shortened by curving the seat tube over the rear wheel – is a beautiful, innovative design that still looks contemporary today.

This particular machine is in ‘time-warp’ condition. The paintwork retains all its box-lining. Bear in mind though that this wonderful machine was manufactured by a small specialist company who provided ‘bespoke’ bicycles to customers’ individual orders. It would have had many coats of enamel, so it’s no wonder its original paintwork has stood the test of time.

This is believed to be the most original surviving example of a Rensch tandem anywhere in the world.
