1956 Panther Model 10/3 Villiers 197cc

Excellent Condition.

New MOT

Original Mileage: 10,521 miles

Starts Easily and Runs Well

The Panther Model 10 is the the most sought-after of the 197cc Villiers machines of the fifties. This one is a good example. Everything works well, and it looks splendid. It’s not concours – there are blemishes here and there – but you’d be hard put to find a nicer Panther Model 10.

After my mechanic has serviced it, I’ll take it in for a new MOT and add a video of it to this page so that you can see it running.

I hope these photos show you all you need to see. The only thing I’ve found to detract is a cracked lens on the ammeter.

1955 EARLS COURT SHOW

After WW2, Great Britain had to repay its massive war debts to America, and the overwhelming majority of new vehicles were exported in order to bring in foreign exchange. Petrol rationing was still in force in Britain into the 1950s. So it was interesting to see the new models at the annual Earls Court Show …but you couldn’t buy them!

But, by 1955, the country had recovered, and motorcyclists once again had a wonderful choice of machines to buy. The 1955 Show provided the debut of the new-fangled ‘mo-ped’

(for a review of the 1955 Earls Court Show PLEASE CLICK HERE).

The European motorcycle industry was in full swing in 1956, and the show was packed with fascinating new models. Panther’s new 200cc machine made its debut, and received a lot of publicity at the show and in the press.

VEHICLE CONDITION: Vintage vehicles are wonderful beasts

– but each has an individual personality and they sometimes have bad days just like you and me.
You will need basic mechanical skills (or a local mechanic) to use one on a regular basis.

Two-strokes invariably need basic servicing before starting them, if they’ve been left to stand for more than 3 weeks or so.

These are rare vehicles whose values are not necessarily based on running order.

IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THE ABOVE, PLEASE DO NOT BID.
